The future of nanotechnology

   Now the development of innovative technical solutions in energy saving and environmental toward rationalism engaged many scientists. It is obvious that the trend that emerged in the modern building will soon come to a new level of development, and this will force rethink traditional notions of building materials.

The catalyst of this process will be a new scientific and technical direction: nanotechnology. It is predicted that it will be almost the main production basis for the immediate future. Using these technologies will provide common building materials unprecedented features such as a unique strength, self-cleaning, increased hundreds of times the life of others.

Promising prospects look construction of the prefix “nano. In the near future the foundations of buildings will be equipped with self-regulation and compensation of soil shrinkage. Load-bearing structures of buildings can automatically perform monitoring your own stress-strain state. Roofs and building envelope will accumulate solar energy and absorb carbon dioxide. But internal and external coating will respond to the psycho-physical state of people, instantly adjusting or changing its characteristics. These technologies and will form the basis of such a thing as an intelligent building new generation.

In advanced countries, about 20% of construction companies use their objects of different materials created using nanotechnology.

For example, the construction of National Centre for the Performing Arts, Chinese scientists simulated “lotus effect” with nano coating. The oval dome – made of titanium and glass and because of this combination of coating is not exposed to different kinds of pollution. Experts believe that the face paint with the use of these technologies will be in incredible demand in the construction market.

   A British designer Agustin Otegui, has offered innovative technology Nano Vent-Skin, which is able to provide energy as new and functioning of the building. The essence of this technology is that the “shell” structure consists of Microturbine that generates energy from wind and sunlight. In addition (not least) – it is able to absorb carbon dioxide. According to the plan of the designer of this material will be manufactured panels that can be installed on all types of buildings. Unfortunately, this development can not yet be applied in practice, but in the near future Nano Vent-Skin will open broad prospects for energy saving and environmental protection.
