Comfortbud Design Institute took part in the competition of the best project for connection shores in the Strait of Hormuz. The work of our architects received an Honorable Mention and will be published within the Gulf Architecture Biennale.

The name of the Strait of Hormuz comes from the eponymous island. It is a strait in the Middle East which connects the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf. Its length is 195 kilometers. One fifth of all global oil shipments pass through it each year.

The Gulf Architecture Biennale is the common project of Brusselssprout and THE STATE foundations. Within the framework of Biennale it was announced the contest for the best idea of connection the two shores of the Strait of Hormuz. The contest organizers encouraged participants to the boldest proposals and ideas.

The U-shaped design which is proposed by the architects of our company has some obvious advantages over traditional bridges or underground tunnels. It has no width restriction and during the process of designing it can be set such bandwidth that best meets the needs of the future. Since the channel is open – disappears all the problems associated with ventilation and simplifies security issues and evacuation, as an additional lane for vehicles rescue services is not a problem. However, the biggest advantage of the project is the reliability and stability of the structure. And even if the storm floods the channel, the water will be pumped out easily.
