European design for Ukrainian industry
Design for industrial and agricultural purposes is a challenge for the best. After all, these buildings should take into account the many nuances and details, carefully thinking through every stage of the project. And Comfortbud Design Institute always willingly undertook serious challenges due to which now has in its portfolio truly grandiose industrial projects.
One of such is composition bulk sugar storage of silo type, built in 2013 for LLC “Radekhiv sugar.”
This building with capacity of 50 tons is concrete evidence that Ukraine has good specialists who are ready to implement even the most complex designs. It is important that in building a silo type storage Radekhiv Comfortbud Design Institute specialists used European experience – an object designed in cooperation with the Polish company «CHEMADEXPROJEKT», which developed technology and automation of the process. All the rest – from creating computer models to lay the metal dome structures fell under the responsibility of specialists Comfortbud Design Institute. And in this, and more than five hundred projects implemented for 10 years by specialists of the company, it all began with consideration of the needs of the customer.
“Having the information from the customer about how many tons of sugar they want to store in silos, we develop technology that selects the optimal diameter and height of the dome, calculate the load on the walls and ceilings, – the head of the construction group Sergii Bekerskyi – There are strict requirements for the draft and distortions buildings because of the constructive point of view, our task is to ensure uniform foundation draft, that it remained stable throughout the life of that regulatory requirements for 60 years. ”
Particular efforts of developers of the project aimed to ensure the safety of future – because during operation silage is exposed not only external but also internal factors. In particular, pressure on the wall structure of sugar, which should be considered at the design stage.
“These designs allow uneven buildings deformation no more than one and a half centimeters. Due to the height of buildings to 60 meters and the thickness of the reinforced concrete walls of only 320 millimeters, we design structures, designed for large vertical and horizontal efforts – said the chief project engineer Mykola Khrshanovskyi – because in addition to the classic fixtures we use circular stretch ropes prestressing who perceive horizontal efforts. For this monolithic concrete walls lay interconnect tube, inside which strained the ropes and then the tube is filled with cement mortar. This technology provides stability and allows walls built to withstand high pressures sugar. To ensure rapid construction of silos we used formwork system sliding scale plan that allows you to build a silo walls to a height of 2 meters per day”.
Special attention is given to the dome of the silo, which consists of a skeleton segment located square section beams, which are hinged at 40 points and are based on the reinforced concrete crown end walls of the silo. This design provides loads besides perception technology, atmospheric and gravity, the possibility of lifting the whole construction project on the mark.
The stability of the building is not the only criterion which must comply with the construction of this type. Already in the design phase composition of bulk storage of sugar is important to consider its future functionality. Specialists of the Comfortbud Design Institute take care of creating a system of conveyors that provides automated shipment of sugar in cars or trucks. And also – have created all necessary conditions for efficient storage of sugar – a network of electrical cable maintains a constant temperature of 20 degrees Celsius, ventilation system supply warm air used to the humidity that does not exceed 50 percent. These indicators over 4 years of operation and composition of Radekhiv are supported properly.

The first composition of bulk sugar storage of silo type tested time and load, so no wonder that Comfortbud Desing Institute was chosen to implement another such project with a capacity of 35 thousand tons – this time it is in Starokonstyantyniv of Khmelnitskyi region.
